What about all that plastic?” Well, at Bare Roots you never need to have this panic. Our packaging is completely eco friendly, recyclable or compostable.

As a small Australian made and owned business based on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula we understand the importance of protecting where we live. We are dedicated to making a difference to how we make and distribute our products.
When your parcel gets packed in our warehouse, we use a recyclable cardboard box, which might already have been recycled from our own products. We carefully wrap our certified organic products in Ranpak Paper. Ranpak is the first global producer of 100% sustainable paper based packaging. All their packaging consists of either entirely or partially recycled content. The packaging is recyclable meaning it conserves natural resources, saves energy, reduces green house emissions, helps landfill space available and gives an opportunity for it to be repurposed into other things. It is also renewable and biodegradable meaning the process of which biological organisms break down.
We pack fill your order with Bio Fill. It probably hasn’t crossed your mind just how amazing this stuff is. Fun fact, it is made of corn and potato starch. This means it can completely dissolve if submerged in water, meaning no more packaging extras going into the bin. How surprising is that? It is also compostable meaning it can break down its self.
As with all packages, the box is packed and needs to be sealed. Around 8 millions tones of plastic ends up in our oceans alone each year. You wont find plastic tape to seal our parcels. The eco friendly alternative is water tape. It is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. Once sealed, you guessed it a compostable label is attached ready for your delivery.
We even add that extra eco friendly touch with our thank you plantable cards found in our complete box sets. A beautiful lemon scented bottle-brush can be planted creating new growth to absorb C02 from the atmosphere and reducing our carbon footprint.
By all means we certainly are not perfect. There is always room for improvement when it comes to environmental impact and as our company grows, being an environmentally conscious business sits at the forefront of our mission here at Bare Roots.
